It's easy to picture Nationals as a single week in November — a backdrop for whoever happens to show up strong that month. USA Pickleball's own structure says otherwise: the National Championships is the fixed endpoint of a season-long qualification route called the Path to Nationals.¹

How a player actually earns a spot

That path runs through Golden Ticket tournaments and a Tiered Point System accumulated across the season; 18 Golden Ticket events fed into the 2025 Nationals alone.¹ Nationals itself, now named the Oceanview USA Pickleball National Championships and covered in full elsewhere in this issue, is explicitly described as the only USA Pickleball National Championships that requires this kind of qualification to enter — every other USA Pickleball national event is open entry by comparison.¹

The 2025 event drew more than 2,500 players from 47 states and 20 countries, spanning an 11-year-old competitor to an 87-year-old, across amateur qualified players, elite professionals, junior divisions and wheelchair divisions all sharing one venue.¹
