Why do players often have vastly different DUPR ratings in singles versus doubles?

A collegiate tennis player with zero pickleball experience can quickly achieve a 4.5 DUPR in singles through powerful baseline drives and heavy topspin passing shots. In doubles, however, that same player may struggle at the 3.5 level because doubles eliminates passing lanes and requires soft kitchen touch and patience.
