How long must new concrete cure before applying acrylic sports coatings?

Applying acrylic coatings to green concrete leads to immediate adhesive failure, bubbling, and delamination. As fresh concrete hydrates, it releases high quantities of moisture and alkaline calcium hydroxide. Applying acrylics before 28 days traps hydrostatic vapor pressure under the membrane. After 28 days, contractors conduct a calcium chloride vapor emission test (requiring <3 lbs / 1,000 sq ft / 24 hrs) and perform surface preparation via shot-blasting or mechanical diamond grinding (CSP-2 profile). Acrylic coatings must also be applied during warm, dry windows: ambient temperatures above 55°F (13°C) and falling humidity.
