USA Pickleball Rule 2.G.1 empowers the tournament director or head referee to mandate a change of apparel if a player is wearing clothing that approximates the tournament ball color (predominantly optic yellow or chartreuse green). The camouflage effect severely impairs the opponent's vision and depth perception, particularly under bright sunlight or indoor LED floodlights. High-level players are advised to pack neutral navy, black, white, or red tops to avoid forced apparel changes or forfeit penalties.
