Brooklyn’s route to the minors is a team story.
The Brooklyn Pickleball Team’s Road to Minors series gives amateur New Yorkers a points table, a tryout and a jersey to play for, all run out of one Queens club.

Most amateur tournaments end on Sunday. The Brooklyn Pickleball Team’s Road to Minors series is built to keep going. Launched in November 2025 and running through the end of the 2026 Major League Pickleball season, it gives amateur players a way to qualify for one of the franchise’s minor league rosters.1
BKPT is Brooklyn’s MLP team, and its pro roster includes Rachel Rohrabacher, Christian Alshon, Jackie Kawamoto, Riley Newman, Chris Haworth and Hannah Blatt.2 Its minor league program has rosters at DUPR 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20.1
The September stop
The series stop on September 11–13, 2026 ran across three days. Friday evening had men’s and women’s singles for players under 4.0. Saturday ran men’s 3.25, men’s 3.75, women’s 3.5 and men’s 4.25. Sunday had women’s under 3.25 and mixed doubles at 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0.1 Gotham Pickleball is the exclusive venue, and the team says participants receive sponsored products at no charge.1
Points, then a tryout
Results feed a points table kept on Gotham’s website. A first place earns 100 points in a section of eight to ten teams, 70 in six or seven teams, and 40 in four or five teams, with smaller awards down to fourth.1 The rewards scale up across the season. The top man and woman in each DUPR band at the end of May 2026 won tickets to the June MLP event at Sportime Randall’s Island. After the October 2026 event, the top four points leaders get a free tryout registration for the 2026–27 season, and the top man and woman in each band get a one-year roster membership regardless of tryout, plus a $300 travel stipend if they make the band’s A-team.1

What the jersey comes with
Making a roster is more than a line on a résumé. The team lists training together, access to its coaches and front office, team apparel, official DUPR minor league tournaments with prize money at the MiLP Nationals, up to three event registrations covered, MLP tickets, organized practice, and a chance to play in the 2026 MLP New York minor league showcase.1 That is why this is a team story: the series turns individual results into a club identity with somewhere to go next.
Competitive Meta & Biomechanical Reset Dynamics
At the professional championship tier, this dynamic highlights a macro shift in how tour players construct points from the transition zone. As paddle face dwell times decrease and power-core carbon fiber compositions accelerate ball speeds toward 65 mph, winning margins are determined not by baseline groundstrokes but by 0.19-second reflex exchanges at the non-volley zone line.1 Tactical video breakdown confirms that top-seeded competitors are systematically prioritizing aggressive counter-punches over defensive resets, forcing opponents to speed up from disadvantageous low-contact heights.1
This evolution has triggered a parallel restructuring of athlete training regimens and commercial brand alignment. Tour pros now operate specialized movement labs with high-speed optical tracking, calibrating paddle balance weights to within tenths of an ounce while managing heavy tournament schedules across national circuits.1 As commercial endorsement portfolios expand into footwear, nutritional recovery, and regional club franchises, top athletes are establishing durable enterprise equity across the evolving professional sports landscape.1
